Yavapai County
Sheriff Scott Mascher: Gun Control - I have received many questions and
concerns from our public and YCSO staff about recent gun control issues.
As your Sheriff, I have taken an oath of
office to support and uphold the Constitution of the United States, and to
protect the people of Yavapai County. I take this oath seriously.
Now we have politicians that want to prevent millions of law abiding, honest Americans from owning certain firearms and magazines because of the mentally ill and violent criminal offenders.
Now we have politicians that want to prevent millions of law abiding, honest Americans from owning certain firearms and magazines because of the mentally ill and violent criminal offenders.
I do not believe that extreme acts of
violent criminal behavior should ever misguide a politician into enacting
orders or laws that would take away Constitutional Rights and Liberties from
law-abiding Americans.
As Sheriff, I refuse to participate or
cooperate with any unconstitutional order that will infringe upon our 2nd
amendment rights.

Message From Salt
River Project Councilman Mark Lewis: Today’s
EPA ruling on our largest coal fired power plant at Navajo Generation Station
was very negative.
Basically
the EPA wants us to put a 1.1 billion dollar catalytic converter on the plant.
The City of LA is walking away from their share of the plant.
We
originally planned to upgrade this plant in 2065, but the Obama Administration
moved that timeline up to the next 56 months. This will crush the farmers,
tribal water users, chip makers and residents of the metro Phoenix and Tucson
areas.
CAP
estimated that prices could rise more than 30% for all water and power users in
the 2 big cities of Phoenix and Tucson. It may go higher.
We
need to organize protests at the up coming public meetings like we did last
summer and make sure the EPA knows how we feel about our electric prices and
our jobs.
We
need to ask the legislature to join energy consumers in filing suit against the
EPA when the rules finalize in April 2013. Summer power bills are heading up
thanks to the EPA.
We
have no oil, no gas, no choice. We have to use coal / nuclear because that what
we have! Solar can help but it does not work at 10 pm at night in July.
Please
plan on attending meetings and writing emails for us in the next 90 days to let
the EPA know how we feel. - Mark Lewis, Councilman
Salt River Project -District 7, 602-499-3095 mark@marklewis.com
